Will Cold Weather Affect Plastic Window Clip Failure Rate?

I have no idea, but here are some thoughts:

  • Plastics become brittle in the cold so they become more likely to break, however
  • People tend to operate their windows less during cold weather

So, maybe a net zero, but we’ll find out for sure pretty soon.

A quick survey of posts at forums and on reliability reporting websites shows a fairly even distribution of months, assuming that people report the problem around when it happens.

Anyway, if the window clip in your 2007 or 2008 ES350 breaks, and you want to save a bunch of money, and you don’t want to buy a replacement window with cheap plastic clips on it, click here to buy my single part and discounted multi-part repair kits.
